About us
Hello! I'm Shauntelle Axline-Weidner, owner and founder. I thought I'd share with you a little bit about why I began Shantilly Lace Photography.
My fascination for still imagery began when I was a teenager. I remember I would be so mesmerized by the beautiful people in all the popular magazines. I especially loved the GUESS photos splashed about the infamous VOGUE, Cosmopolitan, Glamour or any other most loved girls magazines at the time. The black and white images spoke to me the most for some reason. I would tear out these inspiring photos and tape them to the top of my very high vaulted bedroom ceiling creating a huge blanket of gorgeous photography above my bed and just lay there some nights thinking about how amazing it would be to be “her.” Side note… my poor mother had to pull all the pics down once I moved out… I didn’t have time for that. Sorry mom.
I got busy getting married, having kiddos and life just takes over. The passion of “what could’ve been” wears away. I would however time to time take my kiddos out to a mission or a park or a local area or even just at home creating a screen behind them with a white sheet. Oh man we would have a blast creating a photo shoot and getting my little monkeys to be my cute adorable models. That was easy! I shot a wedding here and there for family. More impromptu photo shoots of kiddos and their friends. I never stopped loving the aspect of the imagery and the imagination that it took to create a beautiful photo.
Fast forward to 2015 I had the privilege to work with an amazing and award winning photographer, Sean Simpson but this time I was the model. What a fun and exciting creating experience. I absolutely loved the entire process. I did many photo shoots and then of course life takes over again… you know that reality thing. Then in 2024 my daughter got engaged and asked me to take their engagement photos and of course I said yes. I was stoked about the idea of getting some really unique and great shots of them and honestly just having a great time creating memories. And it was everything I remembered, from taking photos to modeling in photos and I felt that same passion wash over me once again. I forgot how that felt, ya know! With the help of the hubby and family’s encouragement. I just decided to JUMP. Open a photography business, why not?!? They say do what you love and it won’t feel like work, right?! So here I am… doing what I love and taking the leap of faith.
In advance, I thank each one of you for reading my little story and supporting me in this new exciting photography journey. Thank you ◡̈
